National Center for Children in Poverty is the nation’s leading public policy center dedicated to promoting the economic security, health, and well-being of America’s low-income families and children. NCCP uses research to inform policy and practice with the goal of ensuring positive outcomes for the next generation.
Piton Foundation has Community Facts which is a tool developed to make data about the health and well-being of Denver-area families and communities widely accessible. Community Facts provides detailed information about geographical areas related to demographics, education, housing, economics, health, safety, and more. It includes data available in tables, maps and graphs.
Early Childhood Data Resources
We use a number of resources to pull together early childhood data on Denver, Colorado and the nation. The following list is a small snapshot of the wealth of data available on young children.
Colorado Children’s Campaign is a data-driven, advocacy organization. Their annual KidsCount in Colorado report is one of the most comprehensive, widely-referenced publications each year and is used by the media, non-profit organizations and other advocates as a tool to assess the status of Colorado children and to support efforts to improve their health and well-being.
Child and Adolescent Health Measurement Initiative - Developed and maintains a number of quality measurement tools and strategies that assess the quality of health care provided to children and young adults. Their Data Resource Center for Child and Adolescent Health (DRC) advances the effective use of public data on the health and health-related services for children, youth and families.
Child Trends is a nonprofit, nonpartisan research center that studies children at all stages of development.
Mapping the Next Generation is a visual mapping tool created through a joint development project between CiviCore and the Piton Foundation. This new tool uses vital statistics birth data to help users gain insight into the trends of early childhood population. Additionally, the application displays information about service providers working to deliver quality services to these populations.
Maternal Child Health County Data contains recent data for Colorado counties for maternal and child health performance and outcome measures.
